Job description

Perform a variety of duties related to the production of hay and working in grass pasture. 7:00 am to 6:00 pm (Monday through Friday), and hours on Saturday are 7:00am until 2:00pm, including a 30-minute, unpaid, lunch break and two (2) 15-minute breaks; Worker may be requested, but not required, to work additional hours, as business needs demand and depending upon the conditions in the fields and the maturity of the commodity. General farm work will include the following responsibilities: maintain, drive, attach, and operate farm implements, tractors, equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops; minor repair and maintenance to farm vehicles and mechanical equipment; remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds; remove rocks from field; paint/repair/maintain farm structures; replace/repair fencing; perform general cleanup and maintenance of farm areas (to include mowing and other yard maintenance); clearing farm buildings; rake hay; bale hay/straw; operate vehicles, motor bikes, or all-terrain vehicles on farm property in the course of performing agricultural work. Work does not include driving heavy trucks. Irrigation duties will include working with water lines: Connect pipes, check alignment of pipe and adjust for proper water distribution, attach lines to water supply, turn on pump, turn valves to start flow of water, disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields at specified intervals, move pipes through freshly irrigated crops and/or plowed fields where mud may be deep at times; lift and carry pipe sections on a sustained basis. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Windy Hills Services, LLC administers a post-hire criminal background check as part of fitness for duty at employer's expense. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
