Job description
Grove caretake ,plant, land prep: Workers may be required to perform miscellaneous grove clean-up and caretake work and cultivating,. These activities may removing debris, boxes, discarded fruit from fields to clean growing area , repair and or replace irrigation equipment or install new irrigation equipment , maintain fence lines and moving farm equipment ,lay plastic, and use farm tractors , install stakes , general farm work/irrigation/hay production. Planting blueberry seeds 1 inch deep in rows, or in hills spaced 6 feet apart . Worker will go down the fields carrying trays of transplant and plant them individually in the prepared planting bed by bending down and planting the transplants in the ground & drive farm tractors and trailers from the farm fields . Assist in pine straw collection and bailing on farm worksites as needed. Clean and maintain work areas. Land Prep : Tractor drivers will . Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines lay plastic. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment. Dig and maintain ditches. Install and remove levee gates. Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants. Apply fertilizers, plant growth chemicals, conditioners, and other plant related treatments at the correct times depending on plant type, growth, climate, and crop conditions. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer’s products, and property .Blueberry Harvesting by hand - Pluck blueberries from bush by hand, place in baskets, in flats or in masters, turn fruit in at site being collected. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Must be able to work long hours in direct sunlight, where weather conditions may be hot and humid, rain is possible and worker will be exposed to pollen the entire day while performing he job duties. The majority of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Must be able to lift 6lbs. repetitively throughout the workday and able to lift and carry 6lbs. in field. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. All physical requirements will take place in an outdoor environment exposed to the elements for extended periods of time.
Special Requirements
TRAINING: The employer will allow two (2) weeks of work for worker to reach production standards.
