Job description
Drives/operates farm machinery, plant, cultivate, spray, fertilize, harvest, pump and apply manure, store grain crop of Corn, Wheat, Soybean, Alfalfa, and various custom farming tasks. Attach farm impletements, e.g. plow, disc, drill to tractor, till soil, plant and cultivate grain. Tows harvesting equipment, drives/operates self-propelled combine to harvest crops. Performs duties like lubricating, repairing farm machinery and transports produce to elevator or storage area. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping To comply w/Federal, State & County regulations must be willing to obtain an appropriate driver's license (class D) w/in 2 months of employment. If applicant does have a license, applicant must furnish emp w/ current drivers abstract w/acceptable record. Involves lifting and carrying of 60 lbs frequently
The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
Special Requirements
Experience as Farm worker May be required to take post hire random drug and/or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination.
