Farm Worker/laborer

Job description

Employees will perform general winter-related maintenance during the winter months on the farming sites. Employees will be expected to remove snow from farm site and roads, as well as performing maintenance on tractors for snow removal during the winter months. Employees will be expected to use and operate a truck with a snow blade and a sander, as well as driving a tractor mounted snow-blower and will use shovels for snow removal. Employees will be expected to perform maintenance on said equipment.

Furthermore, once the spring months arrive, workers will assist in the beginning stages of crop production, including the pre-planting activities and planting of crops such as corn and soybeans. Workers will perform general tasks such as tilling fields, preparing fields for planting, and weeding/fertilizing crops. Workers will engage in the application of fertilizer and pesticide solutions on crops to protect against insects, fungus, and weed growth. Workers will operate machinery such as tractors and planter tractors for grain production. Employees must also be able to withstand working long hours in and around strong fertilizer odors, including manure, and be able to tolerate extreme temperatures.

Special Requirements

General knowledge of tractor operation and maintenance, three (3) months of relative experience required. On the job training provided, amount varies dependent on employee experience. Must be able to lift and carry 75lbs/75yds.
