Job description

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse such as: Record information about crops such as pesticide use, yields, or costs; Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops such as corn, rice, soybeans; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops; Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information; Guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, and to discard diseased or rotten products; Position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers; Load agricultural products into trucks without over or underfilling bed or trailer, and drive to market or storage facilities; Regulate conditions; Feel plants' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease; Maintain inventory; Trap and destroy pests such as moles, gophers, and mice; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Build agricultural structures - minor work, adding equipment cover on the farm like a shed, lean-to, or shade and building up dirt for irrigation activities in the form of levees and spillways. This work will all occur on the farm, will be a minor and incidental portion of the job, and requires no more than 3 months of prior experience; Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping.

Special Requirements

One (1) month of recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
