Job description
As farm workers on a chicken farm, the role involves maintaining buildings, equipment, and livestock to ensure functionality and safety. The workers will feed and water livestock, monitor food and water supplies, examining animals to detect illness, injury, or disease in addition to checking physical characteristics, and maintaining growth, feeding, production, and cost records. The workers will also clean and inspect stalls, pens, cages, and equipment using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, in addition to inspecting, maintaining, and repairing machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences, and other equipment, which includes but is not limited to: metal cages, water line nipples, and manure scrapers.
Special Requirements
While there is no education requirement, workers must have six (6) month experience in pullet husbandry and be able to lift and carry 75 pounds 75 yards. Workers must be able to strictly follow biosecurity guidance provided by the farmer. Workers must be able to tolerate the strong smell of manure and cold temperatures for extended periods of time. Workers must have or be able to obtain a drivers license. Post-employment drug tests are paid for by employer when applicable.
