Job description

We operate a corn, soybean, broccoli and cabbage farm. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers, irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps, install, maintain and repair pivot irrigation systems, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, complete maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment, record agricultural data, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting, feel plants' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease, identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers, inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress, inspect plants and bud ties to assess quality, load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities, maintain and repair irrigation and climate control systems, operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops, participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops, record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs, record information about plants and plant growth, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, set up and operate irrigation equipment, advise others on farming or forestry operations, regulations, or equipment, clean equipment or facilities, harvest agricultural products, operate farming equipment, operate irrigation systems, perform manual agricultural, aquacultural, or horticultural tasks, transport animals, crops, or equipment drive farm trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies, examine animals to detect illness, injury or other problems, operate farming equipment, treat animal injuries or illnesses and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Requires 3 months farm experience.
