Job description

Hive Management: responsible for the proper management and care of beehives. This includes setting up hives, ensuring they are in suitable locations, and providing the necessary equipment and structures for the bees to thrive. Bee Health Monitoring: regularly inspect their hives to assess the health and condition of the bees. Look for signs of disease, pests or other issues that could impact the well-being of the colony. Prevent the spread of diseases and maintain strong and productive bee colonies. Honey Harvesting: Timely placing of honey boxes and monitoring hives through out the honey flow. Then removing honeycombs and extracting the honey. Pest and Disease Management: perform various methods to manage pests and diseases that can affect bee colonies. Monitoring and controlling varroa mites, small hive beetles or other common bee pests. Identify possible problems and provide treatment as necessary. Queen Rearing: perform all tasks necessary in the queen rearing process. Set up starter hives, graft queen cells, prepare nuc to receive queen cells. Bee Placement for Migration and Honey Production: Move hives as needed to honey locations and stockpile locations for migration. Operate forklift and flatbed trucks. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping Involves lifting and carrying of 50 lbs frequently
The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
