Job description
Coordinate activities of Aquacultural workers.
Assist in communication of work schedule and work activities and oversight of employee housing.
Schedule harvest of stocker catfish and transfers to grow-out ponds.
Schedule feeding of fish, nursery ponds, fingerlings and brood stock fish;
Monitoring oxygen levels in pond water (days and some nights), observe fish behavior and physical condition. Correct oxygen level in ponds by turning on in pond aeration.
Monitoring brood ponds, collect brood fish ready to spawn and transport to hatchery. Strip eggs from brood fish, fertilize eggs, and place eggs in hatching troughs.
Schedule hatchery activities including cleaning hatching troughs by hand, feed fry, clean and disinfect hatching jars. Transfer fry to nursery ponds. After spawning supervise moving brood fish to holding ponds.
Perform typical farm and pond maintenance: levee repair and maintenance; pull weeds, mow grass, clean and store equipment, etc. uses seines, dip nets, waders, gloves, oxygen meter and/or chemical test kit. Organize and maintain adequate inventories of needed farm supplies.
Operate farm equipment-tractor, etc.
Able to “communicate in Spanish and English”
24 months experience in Aquaculture
Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Special Requirements
Able to communicate in Spanish and English. 4b. Able to drive tractor. Able to operate equipmentweed eaters, mowers. Use hand toolsshovels, hoes. A drivers license is not required to drive farm trucks on farm access roads or to drive farm implements, tractors etc. 4d. Drug testing can be conducted at Delta Hybrid Farms expense if at any time employer feels it is necessary to ensure safety in the workplace. 4f. Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to sun, rain, heat, cold, insects and other natural elements. 4g-4j. Job duties require use of arms, legs, lifting, balancing, and stooping. Uses seines, dip nets, waders, gloves, mowers, hoes, shovels. Able to perform physically demanding job duties. Must be available for entire contract period and able to perform all job duties. Hours vary due to weather conditions and job duties. Qualified applicants must possess documents to complete INS Form I-9 and be available at time necessary to begin employment.
