Job description
Performs job duties related to bedding plants, shrubs, small trees.
Bedding plants prepare soil/growth media, fill pots; propagate, pot/re-pot, and transplant; prepare cold frames, hot beds; work on potting line (transplant seedlings/move to growing area), prepare baskets/decorative plant arrangements.
Plant care water, weed, prune, mulch, fertilize. Field work (outside) cultivate, condition soil (haul/spread topsoil/additives, mulch, rake,), transfer plants, irrigate, spray, weed, etc. Shrubs and small trees prune, transplant, tie up tree tops, wrap bare root trees with burlap Market preparation tie, bunch, wrap, price, tag select/pack products to fill orders, move/stack stock to storage areas Miscellaneous duties dig ditches, clean/repair fence/fence rows Worksite maintenance clean/repair pots, tools/equipment, clean/repair nursery/greenhouse/work areas, mow grass, grounds’ keeping, put on/remove plastic from cold frame houses Load/unload trucks 50 lb. bags, pinestraw bales, equipment, products, etc.
Special Requirements
4a Able to drive tractor, operate forklift. Able to operate equipmentweed eaters, mowers, hedge trimmers, posthole diggers, power tools. Use hand toolsshovels, hoes, pruning shears. 4c One preventive measure for negligent hiring is to perform a reasonable investigation on potential employees.4d Employer pays for and drug test is conducted when job offer accepted, prior to beginning work. (Addendum C) 4e Load/unload trucks 50 lb. bags, pinestraw bales, equipment. 4f Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to sun, rain, heat, cold, insects and other natural elements,4g-j Job duties require use of arms, legs, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping. Available for entire contract period and able to perform all job duties. Work hours vary due to weather conditions and job duties.
