Job description

Our farm consists of 70 acres of blueberries in production. The farm has a total of 300 acres with planted pines and some of the acreage cleaned and ready for more blueberries to go in. The blueberry maintenance includes fertilizing, spraying, frost protection when needed, harvesting by hand and machine operations. By hand, the fruit is weighed with scales in the field and fruit loaded into the refrigerator truck to go to the processing facility. When machine harvesting, operation of the blueberry harvesters is done at a slow speed and for long hours. After the harvest is done the blueberries have to be hedged and pruned for the upcoming growing season. The blueberries are very perishable, so when they are ready to be harvested, berries can not get wet or get too hot. We do day picking and night picking. Employees will be required to operate and maintain tractors used for spraying, fertilizing and hauling fruit to refrigerator truck. When picking by hand, employees must oversee and run the scales and assist in the loading of the fruit into the refrigerator truck. Machine operations include driving at a slow speed and adjusting machine as needed for fruit quality. This is all done as weather permits. Employees will assist with all aspects of growing these crops, and complete general farm duties as assigned. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment.

Special Requirements
