Job description

Crops/Commodities:
apples, cherries, nectarines, pears, apricots, grapes.
Operate trucks to carry farm equipment and crops. Workers may drive vans that are 14 or less passenger vans. Employees that want to be drivers must possess a valid driver's license. The driver's license is not a pre-hire job requirement. The assigned drivers will drive workers from living quarters to work site and vice versa. The assigned drivers will provide one weekly trip for workers to purchase groceries (transportation is provided for workers who must be provided housing under applicable regulation). To be eligible to drive passenger vans, the employee must be able to communicate in Spanish as significant portion of the workers being driven are primarily Spanish speaking

Workers will help to count trees/vines, visualize and monitor work and report to lead supervisors with concerns or praise, ensure all items of use are in safe and sanitary working condition. Moving ladders or bathrooms to the correct places and ensuring sanitary conditions are followed.

Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assist in handling product weighing up to 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 10 to over 100 degrees F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Workers should be able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations.

Employer-paid post-hire drug testing is required upon reasonable suspicion of use and after a worker has an accident at work.

Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or other durable foot wear. Shorts, bathing suits or other casual clothing not permitted. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work.

Direct deposit is mandatory with a 4 week grace period from first day of hire, to allow setup time for both parties. During the grace period, workers will be paid by check. If there are any fees associated with direct deposit, Employer will pay any associated fees. Employer reserves the right to pay workers by check if Employer determines, at its discretion, that business necessity requires payment by a means other than direct deposit.

Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. Unusual, complex or non-routine activities will be supervised. Workers expected to perform basic duties in a timely and proficient manner without close supervision. Workers must obey all safety rules and basic instructions and be able to recognize, understand and comply with safety, pesticide warning/re-entry and other essential postings. Employer will instruct workers in the safety and operation of equipment before use. Workers must operate equipment, with or without direction, in a manner that protects operator, visitors, other workers, products, trees, crops and equipment. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination.

Non-employees access to work sites or adjacent areas strictly prohibited. Non-working minors may not be present, adjacent to worksites, or left in vehicles during the day.

Workers may not report for work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Special Requirements

This job requires a minimum of 3 months of verifiable agricultural field work experience handling both manual and mechanized tasks. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience. Saturday work required. Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing is required upon reasonable suspicion of use and after a worker has an accident at work. Applicants are required to pass a medical certification (Form WH-515).
