Job description

Job Description: Ag Equipment Operator performs duties like: Drive and operate farm machinery to plant, spray, cultivate, harvest and store crops. Attach farm implements, such as plow, disc and drill to tractor. Till soil; plant and cultivate grain. Tow harvesting equipment with trucks. Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools or farm workers. Operate New Holland FWA tractors for Wheat, Sorghum, Cotton, Alfalfa, Grass Hay. We will also be swathing, raking, and baling alfalfa hay mostly throughout the summer. We do have a small number of acres that we chisel and disc early and late summer. During the spring we strip till with a Versatile 450DT and 24-row strip till right ahead of our spring crops. During the fall we shred cotton stalks with mowers after harvest. Tractors will be attached to the following equipment: John Deere 1890/1910 air seeder, John Deere 1770NT 24 row planter, Great Plains 40' drill, Brent 880 grain cart, New Holland 560 round baler, Hesston 4x4x8 square baler, Massey1841 Little Square Baler, Landoll VT, bush hogs, Rowse hay rake. For harvest we have a New Holland CR9070 combine and two John Deere CS690 cotton strippers. We harvest wheat in the summer and milo and cotton in the fall. Throughout the season you will adjust, repair and service farm machinery and notify supervisor when machinery malfunctions. Generally, we swath, rake, and bale hay 4-5 times throughout the summer around 24-28 days between cuttings. General farm and ranch duties will be performed daily which include transporting supplies and equipment with trucks and repairing fences and corrals as needed.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
