Job description
Drive Tractors: prepare fields, plant, cultivate and harvest crops; unload and store seeds and supplies; haul seeds, fuel to fields. Perform general farm labor jobs: maintenance on farm equipment (clean, oil, repair); repair fences; repair and clean farm buildings (sheds, barns, etc.); mow areas around buildings and keep clean and free from debris; control grass and weeds; spray herbicides to control weeds and grass. Bale hay, care for livestock (transfer from one pasture to another, spray for insects, etc.). Process cattle: assist with calving, give vaccinations, castrate, apply ID tags, brand, ride and care for horses. Learn to observe cattle and pull sick cattle for hospital pen. Learn to monitor feed bunks-feed intake and clean bunks as necessary. Work around cattle in close quarters: cattle pens and processing facilities and maintain quiet calm demeanor. Alternate work includes general farm maintenance, cleaning shed areas, muck stalls etc. Use hoes, shovels, wrenches, etc.
Drive farm trucks. Work outside in heat and cold. Perform typical farm and pond maintenance levee repair and maintenance, pull weeds, mow grass, clean and store equipment, etc. Raises and/or bonuses may be given to any worker at the company?s discretion, based on work performance, skill and tenure. Special Requirements
Able to drive 250 hp tractor and farm truck, operate mowers, rakes, balers, harrows. Able to operate farm equipmentweed eaters, mowers, posthole diggers, power tools. Use shovels, hoes, pitch forks. Work outside (hot, cold temp., light rain). Must be available for entire contract period and able to perform all job duties. Understand cattle behavioral concepts and sensory characteristics to take advantage of natural cattle behaviors for safe and low-stress handling. Use proper cattle handling techniques. Follow instructions and have positive attitude Hours of work may vary due to weather conditions etc. Workers (covered by this application) will only drive on farm property, such as in fields and will not drive trucks off farm property such as on county roads, state or intrastate highways. A drivers license is not required to drive farm trucks on farm access roads or to drive farm implements, tractors etc.
