Job description

Ranch work. On horseback & on foot, incl. but not limited to herding, sorting, calving, castrating, branding, breeding, horn tipping, feeding. Loading & unloading hay & grain. Controlling predators. Checking & maintaining livestock & pastures, & roads & fencing. Cut & clear brush. Horse care incl. but not limited to stall cleaning, feeding, shoeing, training, foaling. Clean & repair tack. Heavy workload during seasonal breeding, calving, foaling, working cattle, & during drought or other excessive weather conditions. Must be able to lift & carry 50# frequently.

OPEN RANGE

Electronic communication: Cell phone service is very good throughout our ranch and workers will be contacted at least once/day (mid-day) to verify well-being. Workers will also be checked on/accounted for when they return to housing at night.

Special Requirements

Must be able to ride, handle, & care for horses & work cattle from horseback in a manner to assure safety of worker, co-workers, & livestock. Must have basic working ability with fence tools & other ranch implements. Must be reliable to perform assigned tasks capably & efficiently without close supervision. Absences and/or failure to perform required duties not tolerated. Must be willing & able to work alone or in small groups in isolated areas. Work involves ranch animals, vehicles, machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (hot, cold, wet, etc.) & risk of poisonous snakes, rocky terrain, storms, flash floods, brush fires. NO family, pets/animals with regard to housing. 3 months experience (& references) required.Must be willing & able to lift 50#.
