Job description

Primary duties included, but are not limited to:
Repair, maintain and fabricate agricultural and farm equipment.
Operate farm machinery and setting in a field setting as needed, including but not limited to ground preparation, planting, tillage, harvest, and equipment moving activities.

Maintain a safe, clean, and functional work area.
Create work orders, detailing all time and goods used to complete project.
Create CAD drawings of new projects to be fabricated and machined.
Accurately read and/or interpret blueprints or verbal fabrication requests.
Accurately perform mathematical calculations.
Coordinate and complete fabrication of specialty farm equipment based on custom specifications.
Complete repairs on farm equipment using variety of welding, machining, cutting and specialty mechanical repair techniques.
Maintain machining equipment by completing preventative maintenance on a regular basis.
Accurately repair and utilize bearings, hydraulic components, and power transmission parts in projects.

The position qualifies as secondary agriculture because it is incident to and in conjunction with Seus Family Farm’s farming operations.

The employer will cover the costs of obtaining a driver’s license, if necessary. Employees must have a basic driver’s license in order to drive company vehicles. The employer provides the required transportation as provided in the H-2A regulations. Workers are not compensated for driving time to and from work since they do not drive anyone other than themselves. Gas and cleaning supplies are provided free of charge at the shop on the farm. Workers are compensated for cleaning vehicles, if needed, after they clock in. Employer assures that transportation-related time after workers clock-in will be compensated, including actual driving time, processing paperwork, trips to the gas station and cleaning the vehicle.

Special Requirements

12 months of machinist experience required. Must be able to operate farm machinery in a field setting as needed, including but not limited to ground preparation, planting, tillage, harvest, and equipment moving activities. Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently without assistance. Must have knowledge of farm machinery, welding & fabrication. Must be able to create CAD drawings, interpret fabrication requests, coordinate and complete fabrication of specialty farm equipment using a variety of welding and machining techniques. Must be able to accurately repair and utilize bearings, hydraulic components, and power transmission parts in projects. Must be able to operate farm machinery in a field setting as needed, including but not limited to ground preparation, planting, tillage, harvest, and equipment moving activities.
