Job description
Agricultural employee is required to work with many different types of farm machinery for soil preparation, crop planting and harvesting. Worker will be required to drive and control farm equipment to till soil, seed/plant, fertilize, spray pesticides, cultivate and harvest small grain and pulse crops. Employee is required to maintain and make minor repairs of the equipment they operate. Mechanical skills and experience are required to use equipment necessary to perform the tasks above. Worker will be required to perform routine mechanical repairs and maintenance on farm equipment. The worker is also required to attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, sprayer, or harvester, to tractor, using mechanic’s hand tools; load and unload grain truck manually or using hand truck, loader, or transfer auger; weigh grain filled containers and record weights; and climb and clean out grain bins. Experience with GPS autosteer preferred. Facility and grounds maintenance. To work as an ag equipment operator requires physical coordination, decision-making ability, mechanical aptitude and driving skills. Feeding of livestock during winter months until they are able to be turned out to pasture. Repair and maintain existing fence lines and livestock pens. The ability to listen to and follow verbal directions is imperative. The job entails working outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, cold, wind dust, rain and snow). Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Worker is required to have a current driver’s license. Increased wages or bonus may be possible depending on experience.
Long/odd hours with split shifts required during harvest and seeding.
Special Requirements
Employer provided items (at no cost to the worker): All tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties assigned as well as transportation between worker(s) on-site housing and the work site. A cell phone or two-way radio will be provided for emergency and ranch communications at no cost to the worker (excluding long distance charges).
The expected work schedule may be required in a split shift due to the nature of the job duties. Hours may vary due to weather, time of year and the requirements of the job. Work may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but only required to work the hours specified. Work may be offered 7 days a week but only required 6 days a week.
