Job description

Employees will operate semi-trucks and trailers to haul the crops from the fields, on public roads, to the elevators or grain bins on the employer's property (farm). Employees will be required to prepare, maintain, and operate farming equipment/machinery, such as tractors, seeders, drills, plows, sprayers, combines, grain carts, etc. Help with seeding in the spring and fall, harvest, fill the air seeder with seed, etc. Use trucks and augers to load the air seeder with fertilizer and treated seed. There will be time when employees will have to use a scoop shovel to move fertilizer and seed from the truck to the seeder. Operate, maintain, service (oil and filter changes along with checking all fluids. Ex: transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid, front and rear end etc. and grease all zerks and moving parts on tractors and other farm equipment (ex: swather, baler, rake, air seeder, ski steer, four-wheeler, semi tandem-axle truck, single-axle trucks, semi with trailer.) Employees will help other general upkeep and maintenance of the farm, trucks and equipment.

Special Requirements

Applicants hired must hold a current/active driver's license from their home country, state and/or an international driver's license, as driving on public roads may be required.

Instruction, training, and general supervision will be provided by the ranch operator or a designated employee. However, the worker must perform required duties without close supervision and listen to, understand and follow simple instructions of the employer or supervisor.

The worker will be required to return worn out tools, supplies, and equipment before new ones will be provided.

Most duties are performed outdoors and entail exposure to heat, cold, dust, rain, and other environmental conditions common in fields, including mosquitoes during certain seasons. The worker must crouch, bend, and lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds in the course of performing required activities.
