Job description
Plant, transplant, cultivate, harvest, grade and pack specialty peppers ,bell peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, cabbage and watermelon by hand. Pre-harvest activities may include staking, tying, planting, transplanting and stringing. Remove weeds from around the plants and from the row middles. Walk through an assigned row while bending and reaching to harvest. We will also be harvesting peanuts and pulling wagons in the fields. Grade and pack product according to supervisor's instructions in the field or packing house. Grade products by size, weight, color, or condition. Discard inferior or defective products or foreign matter. Place acceptable products in specified containers. Assemble cartons, crates, and containers using hand tools. Stack boxes onto pallets, transport vehicles, or trailers. Count, load, and unload products and/or materials. Clean and maintain containers, materials, supplies, and work areas. Clean around farms and buildings including pulling weeds and raking. Participate in irrigation activities. Install, set up, and operate irrigation equipment. Lay irrigation pipes, dig ditches, and pull plastic. Operate, repair, clean and maintain farm equipment and vehicles. Workers who possess a valid driver’s license, FLCE (with driving authorization) and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities. Workers who drive on behalf of the company may be offered additional hours. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application.
Special Requirements
One month of verifiable farm work experience required. Work in extremely hot, cold and/or wet conditions. Walk, bend, sit, reach, stoop, stand, push/pull, perform repetitive movements, and lift and carry 50 pounds. Drug testing is conducted post-hire at the employer's expense and is not part of the interview process. Any employee who declines to take or fails a drug test will be immediately terminated.
