Job description
We primarily farm rice and soybeans on 2000 acres. Sometimes corn and wheat. We will need workers with mechanical skills and tractor driving skills. Workers will be expected to operate all machines including Case IH 8230 Combine, Case IH 4420 patriot sprayer with Raven GPS and Case IH/John Deere row crop tractors. Workers will also be expected to operate dirt moving equipment, backhoes and excavator. Workers will be expected to do repairs and maintenance on all equipment. Workers will be expected to have knowledge on agriculture practices and be able to learn and execute irrigation practices. Workers will be expected to apply chemicals/fertilize, plant, irrigate and harvest crops. Workers will be expected to do grounds care around buildings and farms. Workers will be required to do maintenance and repairs to farm buildings and equipment which may include painting or carpenter work. Welding and metal fabrication is also necessary. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: apply products such as fertilizers, pesticides, growth inhibitors, etc, attach/detach implements, be able to handle working in high humidity, clean work areas, construct facilities, construct structures to support plant growth, direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting, feel plants/crops leaves and note coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease, haul and spread materials such as but not limited to fertilizer to condition the soil, identify plants, crops, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers, inform
farm managers of plants or crops progress, load crops and drive trucks to transport to and from fields and/or storage locations or facilities, load and unload materials and commodities, load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, maintain grounds and landscaping, maintain inventory, mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter, spreader, sprayer type machinery, operate self propelled machinery, record information about crops, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, set up repair, maintain, and operate specialized equipment, use hand tools such as such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives, use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools, work in extreme temperatures. Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: air seeders, augers, bins, silos, loading and unloading facilities, combines or other harvesting equipment, dirt moving equipment, GPS guidance systems, grain carts, forklift, irrigation equipment, mowers and other landscaping equipment, pickups, cars, etc, planters, self-propelled machinery, semi trucks, sprayers, tillage equipment, tractor/trailer combinations, tractors. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce: corn, rice, soybeans, wheat. Speak and understand english.
Special Requirements
Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
