Job description
Driver will be driving a Mack Semi truck exceeding 26,001 pounds, CDL will be required. Driver will be pulling both flat bed and bulk trailers. The flat bed trailers will be loaded with 11 box citrus bins. Each day the driver will report to work at the time specified by supervisor the previous night. Driver will be given load pick up times and locations, on/off farms between growers. Driver will then perform a daily truck inspection. If any issues are found with vehicles or trailers, driver will inform supervisor and vehicle, or trailer will be taken to the shop for repairs. Once inspection completed Driver will back up to the appropriate trailer and begin to hook up. Driver will hook up two (2) air lines for breaks and electrical line for trailer lights. Driver will make sure the king pin is locked. Driver will wind up the landing gear. Driver will check the tire pressure of every trailer hooked up before beginning to travel to make sure the pressure is adequate. Driver will add air if needed. If driver is pulling boxes, the boxes are secured using six (6) metal cable racks and cables that are mounted to each trailer. Driver will use a metal rod to place the racks, Three (3) on each side, at the front and back corners and in the middle of the top row of boxes. The cable is then lifted up and hooked to each rack, swung around the back of the trailer and secured to the opposite side. The cable is then wrenched down tight using a metal bar. Driver will then travel to specified location, obeying all traffic laws and drop his trailer. The load may require tarping. The tarp is rolled up and carried on the back of the semi. Driver will pull up to the tarp racks, take tarp off the truck, unroll it and hook it to the tarp rack ropes and raise it up. Driver will then pull the truck and trailer through the tarp rack and lower the tarp onto the loaded trailer and secure the tarp to the trailer. Once the load has been delivered, driver will remove the tarp if a tarp was required, lay the tarp flat on the ground, and roll it up and place the tarp on the back of the semi. At the end of each day the driver will fuel the semi up and have it ready for the next day. Driver is to report by phone to their supervisor upon delivery of every load and at the end of each day.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years or older. Minimum of one-year CDL driving experience. Employer may conduct a Criminal Background Check. Random Drug Testing may occur, pre-hire for any new client or post-hire for any reason deemed necessary, at the employers expense. Lifting requirement 5 80 lbs. All tools and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift while performing their required job duties. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicated with supervisor when needed. Safety training will be provided, if necessary.
