Job description
The Farm Laborer will manually plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, beets, greens, herbs, lettuce, potatoes, radishes, turnips, squash, melons, peppers, eggplant, peas, beans, tomatoes, and some flowers). Duties will include transplanting, seeding, weeding, thinning, pruning, cleaning, packing, washing, and harvesting produce. Some duties will require the applicant to work on and around machinery and trucks. Construction of trellises and fences, participate in irrigation practices and equipment set up, and use hand tools including harvest knives, clippers, and shovels. Maintain the farm property and buildings (mowing, weed-whacking, and general cleaning). Work schedule is 7:30am to 5:00pm with a 1/2 hour for lunch daily.
Special Requirements
Workers must have strong communication skills and work ethic. Must be able to communicate and follow and follow instructions in English and/or Spanish. Familiarity with food safety. Necessary training will be provided. Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and work in all weather conditions. Must be able to work in all kinds of weather and be able to work on their feet in bent, stooped, and crouched positions for extended periods of time. Full-time, Monday through Saturday. 7:30am-5:00pm (50+ Hours/week, with a 1/2 for lunch. Additional hours and Saturday work required as necessary based on weather and crop progression. Hours may vary based on weather and crop conditions). Employer agrees to provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned. Random drug testing may be required at employer expense post-hire.
