Job description
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, and ATVs. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job also requires loading seed into planters; welding; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, buildings, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; removing rocks from fields; and regularly servicing equipment.
Employees will perform custom combining crew duties only at the locations of the fixed site growers listed in the itinerary. Custom combining duties will include operating combines, tractors with grain carts, and non CDL farm trucks to harvest crops. While performing harvesting duties workers will be required to perform repair, maintenance, and service on combining equipment when necessary. Workers will also be required to change cutting heads of combines when necessary. All duties related to planting and cultivating crops will only be performed on the farm and in relation to the crops owned and controlled by J&K Farms.
There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, or repetitive movements. The employer assures that it will provide, at no cost to workers, an effective means of communicating with persons capable of responding to the workers needs in case of an emergency. This means of communication will come in the form of 2 way radios that are present in all equipment and vehicles that the workers will be operating.
