Job description
On farms, construction helpers will assist laborers with tasks related to building livestock confinement structures on farms. Duties include measuring and laying out livestock buildings under supervision, helping excavate footings, and leveling earth to grade specifications. Helpers will assist with tying rebar, positioning aluminum wall forms, and placing concrete.
Under supervision, they will unload and organize materials such as lumber, steel, tin sheets, trusses, and other building components. Responsibilities also include supporting and assisting other construction workers in the assembly and erection of walls and trusses, helping lift tin sheets to roofs, sheeting walls, installing doors, and caulking structures.
Other responsibilities include assisting construction workers in the repairing of feeders and feed tanks, assembling feed lines, and aiding in repairing and installing curtains and gates. Job site clean-up, such as debris removal, sweeping, and organizing materials, is required. Occasionally, helpers may operate forklifts with employer-provided certification. This position requires the ability to lift and carry 75lbs/75yds. Helpers are expected to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and provide support to construction laborers and other skilled workers as needed throughout all phases of construction projects.
Special Requirements
Three (3) months of construction experience required. Must be able to lift and carry 75lbs/75yds.
