Job description
We need seasonal employees during our pheasant season starting in March and ending in January. The egg laying season starts in March and runs until July. During this time, employees will collect eggs and walk the pheasant pens (outside and inside) and bend over to pick up eggs. They will collect the eggs and put it in trays. The employee will take egg trays and set the eggs in incubators. During egg season, the day-old chicks will start hatching and will need daily care feeding, watering, and bedding barns for them. Caring for the day-old chicks will be indoors in barns. When the day old chicks hatch, there will be a need to help “sex” the chicks into males and females and box the chicks up for orders. This task will require being on your feet all day. Starting in August employees will need to catch birds by the birds’ feet, with nets or by hand. The pheasants will need to be placed in crates and prepared for shipment. Meanwhile employees will continue to help feed, water, and bed the birds. This job includes indoor and outdoor work thru all weather conditions in Wisconsin. Employer may pay performance-based incentive bonuses at the end of the contract period at the employer's discretion. Employer may provide pay increases for longevity and experience.
Special Requirements
Employees will need to be physically fit, must be able to lift 50 lbs or more, work in all weather conditions, able to walk 10 miles per day, able to bend over continuously and no fear of birds. Must have a regular driver's license or international driving permit. Require previous poultry experience and a high school diploma or GED. Employee must be able to work with alfalfa, straw, pine shavings, and down feathers. Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination.
