Farm Hand

Job description

Attend to livestock (cattle) at feedlot. Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, milking, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals. May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. May clean and maintain animal housing areas. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Pour cement and construct small shed. Perform other general farm work.

The work day may begin / end earlier or later on any given day and evening. Typical workweek is Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., with potential nights and weekends required depending on the animals and weather.
