Job description
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, and harvest crops. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, skid steers, pay-loaders, small dozers, ATVs, mowers, track-hoes, and pickup trucks with stock trailers. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job also requires welding; mixing chemicals; spraying weeds; Performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, buildings, property borders, gates, barns and all farm equipment; performing shop work; removing snow as needed; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; snow removal duties when necessary; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; picking rocks; regularly servicing equipment; hauling hay, water, and manure; feeding, watering and checking livestock, assisting with vet visits; assisting with medication administration; calving cows and bred heifers; occasionally lifting and carrying newborn calves; weaning calves from cows; planting grass; tilling pasture; and cleaning pens. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, or walking. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
