Job description

This role encompasses a wide range of agricultural, mechanical, and logistical duties. Primary responsibilities include preparing fields for planting by tilling, plowing, and fertilizing soil, as well as operating farm equipment such as tractors, plows, seed drills, sprayers, and harvesters. Tasks also involve planting crops, applying pesticides and fertilizers, and managing crop health by spraying chemicals for pest and disease control. Additionally, the position requires harvesting crops, operating machinery for planting and weeding, and using sprayers to apply nutrients or protect crops. The job also includes maintaining and repairing farm machinery, vehicles, and equipment. This involves inspecting machinery for malfunctions, disassembling and reassembling parts, and adjusting equipment to ensure optimal performance. The position requires operating and servicing vehicles such as trucks and tractors, including performing routine maintenance like oil changes, tire checks, and small repairs. There is also a need for transporting crops, materials, and tools using large trucks, including ensuring safe loading and unloading, securing cargo, and navigating transportation routes with the help of GPS or maps. In addition to equipment maintenance, the role involves farm infrastructure upkeep, including inspecting and repairing buildings, fences, and irrigation systems. Handling physical labor tasks such as lifting, carrying heavy loads, and manual planting or harvesting is also required. This job demands strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure smooth operation. Safety is a key focus, with adherence to safety protocols when handling hazardous materials or operating heavy machinery. The position also requires flexibility, as work hours may increase during planting and harvest seasons. Overall, this role requires a mix of technical skills in agriculture, machinery repair, and logistics, along with a commitment to ensuring farm operations run smoothly and safely. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling, extensive sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a Class B CDL or equivalent driver's license or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire. Requires 3 months farm experience.
