Job description

Workers will operate onion packing equipment within an agricultural packing facility. Workers must be able to: operate agricultural packing equipment for onions in accordance with production schedules; guide product on conveyors to regulate flow through machines; load and unload product; manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust packing machinery; weigh and track product and packaging as directed; empty bags to bagger machines, remove full bags from machines, manually cinch and tie the bags, and lift bags to a conveyor belt; moving product to and from machines; and perform any other tasks and duties under SOC Code 45-2091. Related duties may be assigned. All tasks herein constitute one job. Work is performed in a packing shed facility with exposure to loud noise, odors, dust/debris, and operational machinery and equipment. Frequent walking, stooping, bending, and crouching is required. Highly repetitive motions at a sustained reasonable pace are required. Being on one’s feet for long periods of time is required. Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry weight up to 50 pounds is required. Workers may be subject to fitness-for-duty testing in accordance with applicable law if, based on documented observations, the employer has a reasonable basis to suspect the worker may not be able to safely perform these job functions and/or may pose a danger to themselves or others. Dexterity to use and manipulate agricultural packing equipment, product, packaging, and related items is required. Vision, focus, and cognitive ability to accomplish the functions above is required.

Special Requirements

Workers must have 60 days verifiable experience operating onion packing equipment in an agricultural packing facility. While Section A(6) contains space for only one work schedule, it is noted that there will be another shift schedule (5:00pm to 11:30pm), and that workers on this job order will be assigned to one of the two schedules. The employer accommodates workers schedule preferences to the extent practicable; however, work schedule assignments, crew assignments, and assigned work tasks are ultimately at the sole discretion of the employer. Work schedules may be subject to change where weather, crops, or business needs demand. For purposes of meeting the guarantee, workers will not be required to work more than the number of hours specified in this job order or on their Sabbath or Federal holidays.
