Job description
Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by supervisor: operate farm machinery such as forklifts, tractors, mowers, harvesters, and trucks for soil preparation, fertilizer application and hauling, mix specified materials or chemicals and dump solutions, powders into sprayer, and harvesting and hauling crops including: apples and sweet cherries; prepare soil for crop planting using tillage equipment such as discs, high speed discs, cultivators, in-line rippers, and chisel plows to remove unwanted weeds and hand picking rocks while walking through soft soils; help prepare farm equipment for field work and harvesting; perform routine general repairs and maintenance of farm equipment, including check equipment fluids, change existing engine oil, grease farm equipment, inspect equipment and inform supervisor of any necessary repairs, and help check battery life, air filters, tire pressure, and other parts of farm equipment; drive Employer-provided vehicle to and from the worksites; drive tractor to and from fields while pulling different attachments; operate or assist with trailer/tanker loading and unloading; operate a tractor and box shuttle hauler to haul harvested crop from the field to the farm; maintenance duties including mowing grass, picking up garbage around the farm, and cleaning farm machinery and buildings; complete daily safety inspections and general maintenance on tractors, vehicles, farm equipment and farm buildings; use basic maintenance tools such as a power washer, shovel, and other hand tools. Operate and maintain irrigation equipment including daily, weekly, or monthly checks on drip irrigation tubing, valves, and well pumps. Direct and monitor the activities of work crews engaged in planting, weeding, horticultural work, and harvesting. Drive vehicles to haul crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers.
Pay will be hourly.
Special Requirements
Job requires worker to complete tasks in operating agriculture equipment. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties.
Experience Requirement: 3 verifiable months of commercial agriculture experience in fruit required. Applicants must furnish job references from recent employers within the past 3 years establishing acceptable prior experience.
Drug testing done at employers' expense and not utilized as preemployment tool.
