Job description
Manually plant, transplant, cultivate, & harvest herbs &vegetables such as but not limited to: corn
greens, lettuce, kohlrabi, callaloo, onions, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, squash, cabbage, peppers,
tomatoes, pumpkins & cauliflower. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning
hooks, shears, & knives. Duties include field preparations by, weeding, thinning and/or pruning crops.
Participate in irrigation activities. Harvesting, cleaning, grading and packing the vegetables by hand.
Packing, loading, and preparing produce for delivery to farmers markets. Unload returning trucks and dispose of spoiled
produce. All produce packaged and delivered to farm markets is produce grown and produced by R &
G Produce. Work requires standing, sitting, kneeling and lifting up to 75 lbs. on a consistent basis
throughout the day. After 4 days of training employer will expect workers to pick a minimum of 8
boxes per hour of scallions, radishes, cilantro, parsley, beets, kale, cabbage, carrots, dill and
collard greens. During working hours, cell phone use is limited to emergency situations or for field
documentation only. Employees with a valid driver's license may be requested to drive. Not all workers are requested to drive. No one will be rejected for the position that does not possess a driver's license. Any worker who drives a company vehicle at any time must have a valid drivers license and must notify Employer of the vehicle they are using. Due to health & safety concerns on
our farm workers must understand basic instruction in English. Workers referred as a result of this
order must have a minimum of three months of verifiable experience in performing the tasks
described in this order.
Special Requirements
After 4 days of training employer will expect workers to pick a minimum of 8 boxes per hour of
scallions, radishes, cilantro, parsley, beets, kale, cabbage, carrots, dill and collard greens. If minimum is not met, a written warning regarding production will be given and 4 additional days of training will be provided. If after 12 days of training employee does not meet required production, termination is possible. Drug screen will be conducted after hire and at the employer's expense.
