Job description
Cultivation & Harvesting of Bananas, Plantains, and Papayas
At our farm, we specialize in growing and harvesting bananas, plantains, and papayas from May to February, aligning with market demands during the winter and spring months when production on the mainland declines. We are committed to maintaining high-quality standards while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Farm workers will be responsible for:
* Preparing the soil for planting.
* Planting, maintaining, and harvesting crops.
*Handling post-harvest processes such as sorting, packaging, and transportation.
*Working outdoors, moving between fields throughout the day.
Physical Requirements
This role requires physical endurance and flexibility. Workers must be able to:
Stand, walk (including uphill/downhill), squat, kneel, crouch, and bend at the waist.
Push, pull, reach, lift, and carry objects weighing 5 to 75 pounds.
Operate farm vehicles and equipment if needed.
Work Schedule & Conditions
* Work schedules are determined by crop maturity, weather conditions, and field needs.
Workers may be asked (but not required) to work up to 10 hours per day, including Federal Holidays and Saturdays, depending on farm operations.
Overtime will be compensated according to state and federal laws.
Supervisors will communicate any schedule changes at the end of each workday.
Attendance & Conduct Expectations
*Regular attendance during scheduled hours is required.
*Repeated tardiness, frequent early departures, or performing work outside the H-2A visa scope may result in disciplinary action.
If a worker is unable to attend, they must notify their supervisor at least one day in advance.
