Job description

Operate self-propelled custom-class harvesting machines to harvest a variety of grain, grass and oilseed crops. Service machinery, trucks and trailers. Make in-field repairs. Must be able to operate, maintain and repair agricultural equipment with or without direction.

Load and unload agricultural products or crops onto trucks. Workers will drive company vehicles within a 150-mile radius of the farm, which may include 6-wheel (straight truck under 26K lb.) 8-wheel (straight truck over 26K lbs) or 18-wheel truck(s) (over 26k lbs.) to haul crops, supplies, tools, and/or equipment to other farm locations and grain storage facilities on private or public roads. Worker may drive semi tractor-trailer truck with clutch and manual transmission, with or without combine trailers, to/from specified destinations within the area of intended employment; maneuver trucks into and out of loading and unloading positions. Haul on-farm and over roads. Haul harvest machines between worksites. Haul and transfer grain to/between grain store(s). Transfer bulk agricultural products between facilities. Must be able to operate, maintain and repair agricultural equipment with or without direction. All vehicles used in these operations are registered with farm tags. Under federal and Colorado state law, farm-tagged vehicles used for agricultural purposes are exempt from CDL requirements when operated within the scope of farm-related activities, including transporting crops and equipment.

Clean, adjust, repair, and perform routine service on equipment (e.g., lubricating grease points, inspecting and maintaining fluid levels, checking belt and conveyor tensions, and maintaining tires, wheels, bearings, belts, and other wear parts). Repair or replace defective parts. Attach farm implements (e.g., plows, harrows, discs, sprayers) using hand tools.

Mow, cut, and weed fields. Prepare and/or clear land for planting using mechanized or hand equipment to remove trash, rocks, or other debris or material that may interfere with planting or harvesting activities. Level land by moving dirt and other materials. Equipment may include tractors, dozers, planters, mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, power shears, chainsaws, bobcats, skid loaders, high lifts, and trucks or other vehicles. Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery. Adjust speeds of cutters, blowers, and conveyors and height of cutting head.

Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment. Dig and maintain ditches. Install and remove levee gates.

Employer has a strict prohibition on tobacco usage indoors. Employer reserves the right to discharge any employee found smoking, vaping, or chewing tobacco in the housing, vehicles, or any buildings.

Special Requirements

This job requires a minimum of six months of verifiable prior experience operating/servicing agricultural equipment, including, but not limited to, combines, tractors, trucks (including the combination of a tractor unit with clutch and manual transmission, and semi-trailer) grain carts, sprayers, planters, and baler. Must have or be able to obtain standard driver's license within 30 days following hire. Post-hire employer-paid motor vehicle records check. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience. Saturday work required. Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs. Employer-paid post-hire random, upon suspicion and post-accident drug testing required. Any employee who declines to take or fails this drug test will be terminated and paid for all hours worked.
