Job description

An irrigation laborer performs manual labor tasks related to the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems, primarily involving digging trenches, laying pipes, assembling sprinkler heads, backfilling soil, and assisting with overall project setup under the direction of a supervisor, often working outdoors in various weather conditions; requiring physical strength and ability to use hand tools like shovels, rakes, and pipe cutters. Key responsibilities may include: Digging and trenching - Using shovels and other hand tools to excavate holes and trenches for irrigation pipes. Pipe installation - Laying and connecting PVC pipes, including gluing and cutting as needed. Sprinkler head assembly - Installing sprinkler heads on pipes, adjusting spray patterns. Backfilling - Filling in trenches with soil after pipe installation. Grading and leveling - Ensuring proper slope for water flow. Material handling - Lifting and carrying pipes, fittings, and other irrigation materials. Clean-up- Removing debris and maintaining a tidy worksite.
