Job description
Operating self-propelled equipment, primarily John Deere and much of which is equipped with GPS guidance and utilizing John Deere Operations Center, that reaps, harvests, threshes, swathes or winnows crops such as wheat, corn, soybeans, canola, milo, peas; preforming manual or mechanical adjustments to equipment which includes but is not limited to adjusting harvesting equipment to efficiently handle different grains by adjusting air flows, reel speeds, separation components, etc; performing safety checks on equipment and trucks; perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment, such as but not limited to combines, tractors, grain carts, trucks, trailers, etc and other tools and various pieces of equipment; transporting crops to elevators, silos, or other storage areas; record and track load information for scale tickets and make records for tracking maintenance performed on equipment, loading equipment onto trailers and transporting equipment and other tools used for harvesting from one field to another by truck; attaching implements using hand tools; smoking is prohibited in employer provided vehicles and machinery, in employer provided housing, at employer controlled worksites, and in growers' fields; driving farm vehicle including to and from CDL licensing facility; minor daily and incidental upkeep to small equipment and worksite; work performed on employer controlled/operated worksites only may include general maintenance and cleanup of worksite, equipment, and grounds, use of self-propelled equipment and hand tools to perform duties such as planting, cultivating, spraying, cutting and trimming trees and grass, repairing farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Must speak and understand English.
Special Requirements
Six (6) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain following hire appropriate CDL and obtain clean driving record to drive trucks. Be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
