Job description

Required to be available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and spend the majority of workdays on the range. All job duties are closely and directly related to the production of livestock. Perform any combination of the following tasks to attend livestock on the range: : Work with other cowboys at starting yard to receive stocker cattle; Feed and water cattle; Maintain records on animals; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; Assist in birth deliveries; Wean calves; Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate; Break ice in water troughs; Segregate and sort animals. In some areas, the worker will have access to an adequate and convenient supply of water that meets the standards of the local and state health authorities. Where such a water supply is not available, the employer will provide the worker with at least 4.5 gallons of potable water, per day, for drinking and cooking, delivered on a regular basis, so that the worker will have at least this amount available for his or her use until this supply is next replenished. The employer will also provide an additional amount of water sufficient for the worker’s bathing and other needs.

Special Requirements

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
