Field Worker

Job description

Prune or shear trees and form them into cone and cylinder shapes by using shear knives and handheld clippers; cut and drag trees weighing 50-100 lbs each to a field staging area, lift trees onto mechanical baler and load baled trees onto trucks or trailers; unload trees at central staging area to be sorted and grouped according to size, quality, and species and prepare them for shipment and sale; apply fertilizer and pesticide where necessary; and operate, maintain, and repair power equipment in connection with cutting, baling, and transporting trees for shipment and sale.

With respect to pesticides related work, employer attests that employer provides workers with training on the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and require them to wear personal protection equipment before spraying pesticides, and they will have a decontamination location on site with restroom for them to clean up after work is done.

Special Requirements

Applicants must have one month of work experience with tree pruning and cutting. Workers must be able to lift items such as trees, farm implements, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
