Job description
DAILY TASKS WILL INCLUDE VINE PRUNING, SHOOT, LEAF AND CLUSTER THINNING, PULLING WEEDS, MOVING TRELLIS WIRES, APPLYING CROP NETTING AND HARVESTING FRUIT. FURTHER TASKS MAY INCLUDE PLANTING VINES, TYING VINES TO TRELLIS WIRES, INSTALLING OR REPAIRING TRELLIS PARTS, SHOVELING, HOEING AND OTHER GENERAL FARM LABOR TASKS. JOB DOES NOT NEED TO BE DONE WITH DOMINANT HAND. WEIGHT LIMITATIONS MAY BE APPLIED ACCORDING TO PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS. ALL TASKS WILL BE PERFOMED UNDER SUPERVISION IN VINEYARD OPERATIONS. MUST POSSESS THE REQUISITE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND HOW MUCH TO PRUNE ON A GRAPEVINE. IDENTIFY AND REMOVE THE PROPER CANES AND VINES WHILE RETAINING THE FRUITING WOOD AND RENEWAL SPURS. MUST DEMONSTRATE AND CONSISTENTLY UTILIZE PRUNING PRACTICES THAT ASSURE VINE BALANCE AND PRESERVE VINE HEALTH. MANAGE VINEYARD CANOPY TO PERMIT LIGHT AND AIR CIRCULATION. MAY PERFORM GENERAL FARM MAINTENANCE TASKS WHEN VINEYARD WORK IS NOT AVAILABLE (ALL SUCH ACTIVITIES WILL BE PERFORMED INCIDENT TO OR IN CONJUNCTION WITH VINEYARD OPERATION). BENDING STOOPING AND KNEELING REQUIRED. USE HAND TOOLS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO HOES, SHOVELS, SHEARS, CLIPPERS, LOPPERS AND SAWS. LIFT, CARRY AND LOAD/UNLOAD PRODUCT OR SUPPLIES. WORKERS MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM MANUEL TASKS WITH ACCURACY AND EFFICIENCY. MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT/CARRY 60IBS.
Special Requirements
This job requires a minimum of 3 months of agricultural employment experience handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest fruit vineyard. Applicants must be able to furnish verbal or written statement establishing relevant prior work experience. Workers must be able to perform manual tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Monday through Saturday work required. Sunday work may be offered but not required. Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs. Employer-paid post-hire upon suspicion and post-accident drug testing required upon reasonable suspicion of use or after employee-caused accident were injury to self, others or damage to equipment occurred.
