Job description

Harvester: The employee will harvest various hand-harvested crops in the field using knives, or other tools as provided. Depending on the crop, the employee will be assigned one 20-pound tub, one 15-gallon bucket, or two 5-gallon buckets, at the start of the harvest. The employee will harvest individual plants by hand or with hand tools and place the harvested product into the assigned container(s). In some cases, the crop may need to be trimmed, topped, or de-stemmed before placing it into the container.
Once the container is filled (typically weighing approximately 28 lbs.), the employee will carry the full container a varying distance—sometimes more than 50 feet—to a designated bin trailer or dumping station. The employee will either dump the contents of the container or hand it to a designated dumper, then return to the field to resume harvesting. This process will be repeated throughout the workday. Depending on the crop and conditions, an employee may harvest and transport between 50 to 150 or more buckets per day.
