Job description

Prepare soil and fields for hay planting using tractors and implements

Plant and maintain hay crops such as alfalfa, timothy, Bermuda grass, or mixed grasses

Monitor crop health, irrigation schedules, and pest control measures

Operate and maintain equipment for cutting, raking, baling, and stacking hay

Safely transport and store hay in barns or designated areas

Perform general maintenance and upkeep of farm equipment and property

Assist with weather monitoring to time hay cutting and baling optimally

Feed, water, and provide daily care for horses

Groom horses, including brushing, bathing, and mane/tail maintenance

Muck out stalls and maintain clean, safe stable environments

Monitor horses’ health and behavior; report any signs of illness or injury

Special Requirements

Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. The employer may offer additional work hours or these hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity. Use of electronic devices during work hours is restricted to emergencies only.
