Job description
Work will depend on weather conditions, crop or need. Weeding and harvest includes chile green and red, onions, cotton, pecans. Hand harvesting of green and red chile and onions. Green or red chile will be destemmed and deposited in a 7 gallon bucket, (provided by the employer at no charge to employee), then carried no more than 50 ft to a collection bin. The worker is given a token that will be counted and tallied at the end of each harvest day. Various duties including sorting, packing, and cleanup will be done at the on-farm chile processing plant. There will be various duties in greenhouses such as irrigation. fertilization, and moving plants. Workers will load and stack alfalfa bales. Workers will prune pecan trees. Workers will weed ditch banks and surrounding areas. Rock removal from fields and around pecan trees will be done. Workers will drive tractors, forklifts and farm vehicles, and operate farm equipment. They will ready the fields for irrigation. Workers will install, remove and maintain drip irrigation lines. They will help with shop maintenance and cleaning of shops and buildings. All tools for the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the employees.
Tools used: hoe, shovel, buckets, scissors, chainsaw, pruning shears.
