Job description
General farm labor, including, but not limited to: self-pollination, hand cross pollination, leaf sampling, tagging, hand detasseling, hand harvesting, hoeing, shelling, bogging, and seed cleaning. Drive and operate farm machinery such as tractors, ATVs, and self-propelled machinery to till soil, prepare fields, and plant crops. Set up and operate irrigation equipment, including laying pipes, maintaining ditches, and ensuring adequate water supply to crops. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to crops using hand sprayers and other equipment. Conduct regular crop inspections to monitor growth, pest activity, and plant health. Plant seeds and seedlings using various planting techniques and equipment, including seed drills and planters. Cultivate crops through mechanical or manual methods, including weeding and applying fertilizers. Drive and control farm equipment to irrigate, cultivate, and harvest crops, adjusting implements as needed. Harvest crops using machinery or by hand, ensuring proper handling to maintain quality. Transport harvested crops to grain storage facilities, operating trucks and conveyors as needed. Monitor grain moisture levels and assist with grain handling, including loading and unloading grain bins. Perform general farm labor tasks as needed, including landscaping, clearing debris, and maintaining farm grounds. Report any machinery malfunctions or operational issues to supervisors.
Special Requirements
