Job description
We farm 5,000 acres of corn and raise 4,000 head of cattle. We plant and harvest our own crop. Employees will assist with getting planter ready, run the field cultivator and digger, and pick rock to get field ready to plant in spring. During the spring, employees will also assist with the cattle by giving vaccinations, tagging and processing cattle before sending them to pasture for grazing. No further care or assistance with of cattle is needed after they are turned out to pastures. In the fall, employees will operate the combine and grain cart, and assist with cutting stalks and getting bales made and hauled. Employees will chop and harvest corn, haul manure to and spread manure on fields, and maintain fence. Employees will complete general farm duties as assigned. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
Special Requirements
Job requires extensive walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, repetitive movements, frequent stooping and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Employer will conduct post-hire criminal background checks at no cost to the employee and will not employ anyone with a felony/theft criminal background as required by the workplace safety policy and company HR hiring practices as allowed by law. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license. Require 1 month experience.
