Job description

Performs duties related to planting, cultivating and harvesting ginseng, forest grown medicinal herbs, horticultural specialties, and field crops. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears and knives. Duties may include hand planting seed, raking and preparing seed beds; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; General forestry & shade canopy maintenance, cleaning, grading, sorting, packingand loading harvested products. Repair fences and farm buildings, participate in irrigation activities and help eradicate certain crop pests. Pick weeds, berries and ginseng leaves and roots. Drive to town to pickup supplies. Maintenance of work and living areas.Crops: Ginseng, Various Medicinal Mushrooms, Wild Ramps

Special Requirements

Minimum of 2 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Extensive walking is required. Repetitive movements is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
