Job description

HT Hunter Farms is a leading row crop operation dedicated to cultivating high-quality corn and soybeans. We are seeking enthusiastic seasonal workers to assist in transporting essential commodities between our farm and fields. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team, especially during the busy harvest season and winter months when your contributions will be vital to achieving our farming goals. Job duties include attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools, as well as operating tractors, sprayers, and other farm equipment. Workers will spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus, weeds, and plant diseases using hand sprayers. Responsibilities also involve loading and unloading crops or materials manually or with conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers; loading hoppers, containers, or conveyors using various tools; mixing and dumping solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery; and weighing crop-filled containers and recording identifying information. Additional tasks include attaching equipment extensions or accessories, driving pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, and performing inspections to ensure vehicle and load safety. Workers will be expected to check all load-related documentation, inspect trailer conditions post-unloading, verify vehicle safety equipment, collect and confirm delivery instructions and routes, and couple or uncouple trailers by adjusting jacks, connecting or disconnecting lines, and operating fifth-wheel locks. Duties also include driving trucks with capacities greater than three tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, livestock, or materials, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and state laws by stopping at weigh stations as required. Workers will follow safety procedures for transporting hazardous goods, inspect and secure loads, install or remove special equipment like tire chains or plow blades, and assist with loading or unloading as needed. They must maneuver trucks into position, operate communication and GPS equipment, perform basic vehicle maintenance and emergency roadside repairs, and read maps to determine routes. Other tasks include removing trailer debris, reporting any defects or incidents, and securing cargo using appropriate equipment. Additionally, workers will drive trucks to transport crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers; operate and position machinery to collect and seal full containers; and use tractors and self-propelled machinery for plowing, harrowing, fertilizing, planting, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting. Maintaining clean work areas, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and performing groundskeeping tasks are also essential parts of the role. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Must have a Class A CDL or equivalent or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire. Requires 6 months experience.
