Job description

Snow Cleaners perform custodial cleaning and snow removal tasks to ensure the safety and cleanliness of commercial or institutional properties during the winter season. Workers remove snow and ice from sidewalks and walkways using manual tools such as snow shovels, handheld snow blowers, brooms, and walk-behind salt spreaders. De-icing materials are manually applied to reduce slipping hazards.

In addition to snow removal, workers clean both indoor and outdoor areas. Indoor cleaning duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and emptying trash; cleaning restrooms, windows, lobbies, and common areas; and maintaining cleanliness of floors and surfaces using janitorial tools. Outdoor cleaning includes removing litter and leaf debris from building entrances and adjacent walkways.

“Facilities or sites” refers to the interior and exterior grounds of commercial buildings, such as office complexes and public service facilities. Workers may use a 6–8 foot step ladder to clean ceiling vents or high windows and must have manual dexterity to operate standard janitorial equipment such as spray bottles, mops, dusters, trash pickers, and squeegees. Workers may also use walk-behind janitorial equipment like vacuums or floor scrubbers for indoor cleaning only.

Note: No snowplows, riding equipment, or motorized landscaping or construction equipment will be used. All tasks are performed using manual or walk-behind tools only.

Special Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs for 25 yards. Must be able to handle temperature extremes
