Job description
Fall (August-Dec): Nursery Operations
- Set up and operate hatchery systems for oyster growing
- Monitor seed growth and mortality
- Clean/repair nursery tanks
- Count and volumize seed into silos
Winter (Dec-Mar): Nursery Maintenance
- Monitor seeds in overwintering systems like FLUPSYs
- Clean/repair nursery gear and equipment
- Maintain dock infrastructure and water systems- Track growth and survival of oysters
Spring (Mar-May): Transition to Grow-Out
- Grade seed and prep oysters for deployment
- Transfer juveniles to cages, bags, or bottom gear
- Assist in site preparation and water quality monitoring
Early Summer (June): Grow-Out & Harvest Support
- Assist with early harvest of overwintered oysters
- Maintain gear and record harvest metrics
- General farm work and cleanup
Special Requirements
One month of experience in oyster aquaculture, marine biology fieldwork, or similar work involving aquatic species or nursery operations.
Willingness to work early mornings or weekends depending on tides or workload.
Ability to follow safety procedures and handle live shellfish and aquaculture equipment.
No formal education required; training will be provided on site.
