Job description
Perform daily inspections and the beginning of shifts to ensure equipment is in proper working condition. Monitor equipment for leaks and mechanical issues, make repairs to and clean equipment. Operate chopper pumps in a safe manner to avoid spraying manure above slats and close nozzles prior to manure breaking surface to avoid gassing livestock. Load and unload fuel trailers to avoid spills. Fuel pumps and equipment to avoid out of fuel events.
PIck up parts or equipment when needed to complete repairs, run pumps automatically and manually. Layout hose to maximize daily production and avoid manure spills. Pull hoses through creeks and culverts during and after pumping. Assis in the setup, operation, and teardown of dragline equipment at field sites. Monitor hose layout, pressure, and flow rates to ensure uniform application of manure. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with hoses, pumps, vcalves and flow meters in the field. Safely operate tractors, tankers, trucks and agitation equipment. Ensure adherence to nutrient management plans and all environmental regulations. Operate all equipment and activities in a manner that avoid a manure spill or manure release. Keep detailed records of field application rates, acres covered and equipment usage. Operate pump controls to maximize productivity and safety. Respond to weather conditions and make operation adjustments accordingly. Wash and sanitize all equipment to maintain the appearance of equipment. Perform equipment repairs, inspections, greasing, painting, fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, engine servicing, grounds keeping (mowing, trimming, spraying), record repairs. Silage Packing and Pushing, barn maintenance, concrete work, pole barn repairs, site cleanup, grading, and seeding. Workers must adhere to all safety procedures. At peak season, workers may be requested to work 7 days a week, those wishing to participate in the sabbath, may have accommodations.
Special Requirements
Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. The employer may offer additional work hours or these hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity. Use of electronic devices during work hours is restricted to emergencies only.
