Job description
The herbicide applicator will do the following: set up and operate hand spray equipment to spray and/or spread pesticides and herbicides. Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals according to formulas. Apply herbicide to low-growing grasses and weeds with a great deal of control over the amount and distribution of herbicide. Spray designated areas with pesticides. Lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes to direct spray over designated areas. Mix pesticides and herbicides for application to trees and shrubs. On the job training is provided. In preparation for the winter season, workers will perform job site clean-up and ensure equipment is properly stored for the winter months. Workers will also apply dormant stem treatment and bare-ground herbicide to substations in order to deter growth and facilitate future Spring work. Workers will also perform leaf clean up as flora and fauna begin the seasonal shed.
Special Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry 36-pound backpack and walk up to 12 miles per day.
