Job description

As a Horse Groom/Stable Attendant, the worker will be responsible for and assist with the daily care of horses/preparation of horses for training. Feed/water horse, clean, tack, bathe, brush, and clip horse, apply horse boots and prepare horse to be saddled for training. Clean horse's feet, apply/remove leg wraps/ boots and saddle for training. Bathe/cool down horse after training and exercise. Assist veterinarian while performing physical examinations by keeping the horse calm and under control. Assist farriers as they inspect, remove, apply, adjust, and work with horse's hooves and shoes by keeping the horse calm and under control. Clean/re-bed stalls. Hose down horse with cold/warm water. Wrap horses in brace or poultice bandages as necessary. Exercise/ride horses and assist trainers in preparing horses for daily training.

Special Requirements

Split shift, 5:00am-10:00am; 2:30pm-4:30pm (Tuesday-Sunday), optional hours available on Monday, but not required. Hours may vary based on the weather and racing schedule. On-the-job training will not be provided. Random drug testing may be required post-hire for all workers, both domestic and H-2B workers, at employer's expense. Workers must be able to lift and carry weights of 150 lbs. with assistance. Workers should have the capability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials needed to complete their assigned tasks. The employer will rely on workers' self-representations and observations to assess whether they meet this requirement. The employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned, in accordance with 20 CFR 655.20(k).
